lower cañones community ditch

The Lower Cañones Community Ditch is located in Cañones, New Mexico and diverts water from Cañones Creek. This project consists of stabilization and rehabilitation of the existing in-stream irrigation diversion dam structure using natural channel design principles. A series of three (3) two-step cross vane structures was designed by our office to provide reliable water to the Lower Cañones Community Ditch while also reducing maintenance requirements and improving long-term channel stability. Construction drawings for the Lower Cañones Community Ditch Diversion Structure were completed by William J. Miller Engineers in October 2015. A construction contract was awarded to Barney & Son Excavating, following solicitation of bids by public notice. Barney & Son Excavating mobilized forces to the project site in early December 2015 and Construction was completed on February 26, 2016.
